KEKAHA, Kauai (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man has been arrested for allegedly killing a green sea turtle on Kauai.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources said Wednesday that the man was seen slicing the turtle's throat and then harvesting meat from it on Kekaha Beach.

Officers arrested 32-year-old Bronson Nakaahiki, of Kekaha. He was later charged with take of an endangered species.

This is the second turtle killing in the last week.

Officers are still looking for someone who killed a turtle at Onekahakaha County Beach Park in Hilo this past weekend. The DLNR said the turtle was spotted floating belly-up, and its two front flippers were cut off.

Anyone with tips is asked to call (808) 643-DLNR.
