Kona man charged in string of break-ins

Hawaii Island police have charged a 19-year-old man with a laundry list of charges after a string of break-ins in Kona.
Rodney Kahele Jr., of Kona, was charged Thursday with 13 counts, including burglary, theft and promoting a dangerous drug.
Kahele was arrested Wednesday after allegedly breaking into a cash vault at a business on Olowalu Street.
Police subsequently linked him to several other break-ins at businesses in Kona that occurred between April 11 and 17.
His total bail has been set at $117,000.
