HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Brace yourselves, more wet weather is on the way.

A flash flood watch has been issued for the state ahead of a system expected to start producing heavy rain Thursday morning.

The watch is in effect through Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service said the heaviest rainfall is expected to fall from Oahu eastward to the Big Island.

Kauai is not expected to see heavy rainfall, but even moderate rain could exacerbate the situation on the island, which saw widespread flooding last weekend.

Oahu also saw severe flooding from the torrential rains. At least three homes were destroyed in the rising floodwaters and several more sustained severe damage.

A flash flood watch means that conditions could develop that lead to flash flooding.
