BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The restroom facilities at Glenwood Park on the Big Island have been temporarily closed after thieves stole utility equipment from the park site.

The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation said that the restrooms had to be closed after the facility's portable water catchment tank cover was stolen. The tank itself was also damaged, and officials say that the system might be contaminated.

The tank stores potable water delivered to the site by a potable water delivery truck.

Once the tank system and water is deemed safe, the restrooms will be reopened.

Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to contact the Big Island police at 808-935-3311.
