HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu performed well in a new global "Quality of Living" ranking, and took the top spot in the world for sanitation.
Tech and workforce solutions firm Mercer conducted the ranking, which looked at 450 cities around the world.
Honolulu took the no. 36 spot in the global "Quality of Living" ranking, but was ranked third in the US.
In the ranking, Honolulu was just below Boston and just above Brisbane.

Vienna topped the quality of life ranking for the ninth consecutive year, followed by Zurich. Auckland and Munich tied for third place.
But Mercer gave Honolulu special recognition for its sanitation, ranking the city the best in the world for its waste removal and sewage infrastructure, levels of infectious disease, air pollution, water availability and quality.
Helsinki and Ottawa rounded out the top three for sanitation. Dhaka and Port au Prince were at the bottom of the list.
