HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono officially launched her re-election campaign on Wednesday.
The Democrat announced on Hawaii News Now Sunrise in February that she intended to run again.
Hirono, who was elected to the Senate in 2012, says she's been a proponent of "health care as a right" and "immigration policies that keep families together."
She has also been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump in recent months, calling for his resignation in light of sexual misconduct allegations.
The 70-year-old has also been battling kidney cancer for the last year, and has been undergoing immunotherapy. But she said she's feeling strong.
She will make the announcement at an event starting at 10:30 a.m.
