WAIPIO (HawaiiNewsNow) - The owners of pet cat in Waipio have offered a $2,000 reward for information about the person or persons responsible for burning their cat to death.

Information about the case – including a gruesome photo that appears to show the charred remains of the animal – was posted on a flyer that has been circulating on social media.

"Help us find a killer among this neighborhood," the post reads.

The cat's owner, Sabrina, says she believe the animal was killed sometime on Sunday night before being discovered near Ka Uka Boulevard on Monday morning.

Police have opened an animal cruelty case and are currently investigating.
