HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Beginning in April, residents in the Honolulu area may have to drive a little farther to fulfill their photo printing needs.
Costco announced recently that it will no longer be offering on-site printing services at its Iwilei location.
The popular wholesale chain store said in a letter to members that the advent of camera phones and social media has created a steep decline in photo printing requests — despite an overall increase in picture taking.
"After careful consideration, we have determined that the print volume at the Iwilei, HI, Costco no longer requires on-site photo printing," said General Manager Jaime Havron in the letter.
Photo products will continue to be available for order online, but will result in a change in delivery time for some items.
The Costco stores in Hawaii Kai, Waipio and Kapolei will all continue printing photos on site along with all other photo products and services.
According in its letter to members, current photo orders with through the Iwilei's on-site printing services must be picked up by April 18.
