KEALIA, KAUAI -- Vandals strike twice in a public restroom at Paliku Beach on Kauai.
Kauai Police have launched an investigation after maintenance workers discovered graffiti on public bathroom walls at Paliku Beach.
Police believe the incident occurred sometime between Feb. 6 at 9 a.m and Feb. 12 at 8:45 a.m. The facility had just been repainted due to a previous graffiti incident.
It will cost the county approximately $4,000 to repaint the facility for the second time, according to Kauai Police.
"It is incredibly disheartening and frustrating to see this type of vandalism reoccurring in our public facilities," Department of Parks and Recreation Director Lenny Rapozo said. "It is unfair that our community will ultimately pay the price for these crimes."
Anyone with information about this vandalism is urged to call Police Dispatch at 808-241-1711 or for anonymous calls, Kauai CrimeStoppers at 808-246-8300.
