KAIMUKI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - By the end of the month Cafe Laufer will close their doors for good.

For 22 years, Cafe Laufer has been a small-town favorite among residents.

In a Facebook post, the cafe said Jan. 31 will be their final day in business.

"I want to personally thank you for all the years of supporting us," the post read. "Agreement between all (parties) did not work out. This past year has been a year of negotiations and the turn over to Melvin never took place."

Head Chef Melvin Avecilla, who was supposed to takeover the cafe, is reportedly now looking for another venue to open his own eatery.

The news comes as Agnes Portuguese Bake Shop served up their last pastries Sunday.

The Kailua bake shop closed after nearly half a century serving the islands, and was famous for their malasadas.
