'Stranger danger' incident reported near Kalihi middle school

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A female student at Kalakaua Middle School in Kalihi says two men tried to force her into a black van on Tuesday afternoon, according to the state Department of Education.
The incident, which happened at around 3 p.m., was reported to the Honolulu Police Department. The student was able to escape without incident.
Investigators believe another incident involving a black van may have happened earlier in the day.
School officials sent a letter home to parents on Wednesday, asking them to reinforce certain safety measures with their children.
