HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa returned to Tuscaloosa on Tuesday with an NCAA national championship trophy in hand – and his face on the cover of the latest edition of Sports Illustrated.

The magazine debuted the cover early Tuesday morning, complete with the headline "Fresh Heir," a play on words describing both the boost he gave 'Bama and the fact that he appears to have inherited the starting job by virtue of his performance on Monday.

The former Saint Louis standout's heroics in the second half against Georgia secured the Crimson Tide's 5th national title over the last nine years. Tagovailoa threw three touchdown passes – including the 41-yard game winner in overtime – after taking over for Jalen Hurts to begin the third quarter.
