Rainbow Warrior volleyball set to host inaugural Texaco Classic

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior volleyball team is looking to start the New Year in style in the inaugural Texaco Classic tomorrow.

The tournament will feature the likes of USC, Juniata and Stevens Institute of Technology along with the No. 5 ranked Warriors.

The 'Bows are coming off their best win total in program history and an NCAA tournament appearance last season and will return three starters and 11 lettermen, including All-Americans Stijn Van Tilburg and Larry Tuileta.

Tilburg racked up 404 kills, 23 service aces, six assists and nine blocks last season while Tuileta recorded 17 kills and 250 digs in his first season with the 'Bows.

Hawaii will look to start of its season with a victory over Stevens Institute Thursday, Jan. 4 at the Stan Sheriff Center.

First serve is set for 7 p.m. HT.
