HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It's been a chilly December in the islands. Chilly for the islands, anyway.

Lihue, Kalaeloa, Kahului and Hilo also saw temperatures in the 50s last month, according to the National Weather Service.

And Honolulu saw more than 3 inches of rain, most of it over a 24-hour period.

Lihue was where the mercury dipped the lowest.

The lowest temperature seen there this month was 55, while the high was 78 degrees.

Two spots — Kahului and Hilo — saw lows of 57.

Kalaeloa got down to 58 degrees.

Honolulu (62 degrees) and Kona (63) were the warmest spots.
