HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - "Hawaii Five-0" stars Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park won't be returning for the upcoming eighth season, CBS has confirmed.
The issue, according to various news reports: A contract dispute.
News reports say Kim (who plays officer Chin Ho Kelly) and Park (who plays officer Kono Kalakaua) sought pay equality with co-stars Alex O'Loughlin and Scott Caan, but were unable to reach satisfactory deals with CBS Television Studios.
Kim and Park were believed to be making 10 to 15 percent less than their co-stars.
In a statement to Hawaii News Now, CBS said:
Peter Lenkov, the show's executive producer also wrote:
Kim and Park have been with the hit CBS police drama since the first season premiered in 2010.
The absence of their characters will be addressed in the season premiere set for Sept. 29 on KGMB.
CBS recently announced the show would be renewed for another season starting in the fall, but the loss of the two actors comes as ratings for the show are also dipping.
