HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Authorities are investigating a diesel spill in the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor early Tuesday morning.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources said a large sheen was visible on the water near slip 80.

Investigators say the diesel fuel stretched about 500 yards long on the water's surface.

Crews used absorbant pads to clean up some of the fuel.

It's not known what caused the spill, but the U.S. Coast Guard is investigating.

It is unclear exactly how much fuel was spilled.

This story will be updated.
