School principals would get salary raises under tentative agreement

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A tentative agreement has been reached between the Hawaii Government Employees Association Unit 6 and the state, which includes a salary raise of 13.53 percent over the next four years.

A ratification vote takes place Friday and Saturday for HGEA's Unit 6 members, which covers school principals. If the tentative agreement is not ratified, the unit will proceed to an arbitration currently scheduled for June 5 through 10.

The contract includes a 1.8 percent raise starting July 1, followed by everyone moving up one step on the salary schedule in January with those at the top getting a 1.4 percent lump sum payment. Similar adjustments will be in effect in the years to follow.

Oahu:

Friday, April 28:

  • Windward District Office - 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
  • McKinley Community School - 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Saturday, April 29:

  • HGEA 1st Floor Conference Room - 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Hawaii Island:

Friday, April 28:

  • Waiakea High School A Building 1st floor Audio Visual Room -10 a.m. - noon
  • Kealakehe High School 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Saturday, April 29:

  • Waiakea High School Library 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Maui:

Friday, April 28:
