Kauai police capture 19-year-old Kauai Community Correctional Center escapee

WAILUA, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai police have captured an inmate that was reported missing from the Kauai Community Correctional Center Sunday morning.
The Department of Public Safety said 19-year-old Ezekiel Bagano was reported missing around 5:20 a.m. after the kitchen supervisor saw Bagano was not at his designated work station.
The facility was placed on lockdown, and a headcount confirmed Bagano was not on facility grounds.
It is unclear how he escaped.
Sunday afternoon, KPD received a tip. Then, around 2:30 p.m., Kauai police say they located Bagano outside a Kapaa apartment.
Bagano is a pre-trial detainee awaiting trial for Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle after he allegedly stole a car in February.
