KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - One person was rescued from a boat that caught fire in Kaneohe Bay, Saturday morning.
The Department of Land and Natural Resources said the fire happened just before noon.
Smoke was seen for miles as 25 firefighters and an air rescue crew battled the gasoline fire. One person was safely brought to shore.
Witnesses say one person was on board and jumped into the water to escape the flames.
The flames were completely extinguished at 2:02 p.m.
The boat was originally two miles off shore from the He'eia Kea Pier, and has since drifted towards Kahaluu Pond and is resting on a patch of reef in the bay.
Oil is not leaking from the boat, the Coast Guard says.
There are no reports of injuries. The boating manager is figuring out a way to remove the vessel.
