HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has called on her Congressional colleagues to decriminalize marijuana.
In a House floor address Tuesday, Gabbard said she supports taking marijuana off the federal controlled substances list.
Gabbard introduced legislation to do so along with U.S. Rep. Tom Garrett, of Virginia.
She said federally decriminalizing marijuana is a key part of criminal justice reform efforts.
"Our outdated policies on marijuana are having devastating ripple effects on individuals and communities across the country," said Gabbard, D-Hawaii.
