HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The median rent for a one-bedroom in Honolulu is now $1,750, the 11-highest among cities across the nation, according to a new report.

That's up about 2.9 percent from a year ago.

Meanwhile, two-bedroom rents hit $2,390, up 7.2 percent from January 2016.

The figures from Zumper.com aren't a good sign going into the new year, and come as rents in other pricey cities are on the decline.

San Francisco has the highest rents in the country: The median rent for a one-bedroom in the city is now $3,350, down about 4 percent from a year ago. A two-bedroom goes for $4,510, down about 3 percent from the start of 2016.

New York City and Boston round out the top three in the high rent rankings.

Seattle sits just above Honolulu on the city, with median rents for a one-bedroom at $1,790.
