HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Lots of brothers are working together successfully in Hollywood.  The Cohen brothers who made "Fargo" and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"  The Wachowski brothers who wrote "The Matrix."  Joining us are brothers, and screenwriters of the movie "Moana".....Aaron & Jordan Kandell.

Aaron and Jordan Kandell are twin brothers, professional screenwriters and freelance journalists. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, the Kandells graduated from 'Iolani and went on to study Film and Creative Writing at USC. The Kandell have written feature film and television projects for Disney Animation, Warner Brothers Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Legendary and Paramount Pictures.

They gave us their insights on the journey from Hawaii to Hollywood; how their unique background growing up here in the islands has been valuable to their experience and their professional workflow.

The Kandells are two of five screenwriters who worked on Moana. They are credited with creating the emotional story architecture of the film, the core relationship between Moana and Maui, the cave of the wayfinders, the Kakamora, and the Giant collector crab (played by Jermaine Clement). And as born and raised local boys, they tried to infuse our experience training on Hokule'a and the mana of the islands into the heart of the film.
