Maui named Best Island in the U.S. for 23rd consecutive year

MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The island of Maui keeps its crown as Conde Nast Traveler's best island in the U.S. for the 23rd year in a row.

The list is part of Conde Nast Traveler's 2016 Readers' Choice Awards where over 300,000 readers cast votes among a selection of 7,394 hotels, 606 cities, 500 cruise ships and 236 islands.

Those readers gave Maui a score of 88.43 to top the list. Oahu came in second with a score of 86.91. Kauai got sixth with a score of 85.58 and the Big Island followed behind in eighth at 84.02.

Many of Maui's hotels and resorts earned top spots in the 'Best Resorts in Hawaii' category.

The Kaanapali Beach Hotel was number five on the list of 'Top 5 Hawaii Hotels.' On the 30 Best Resorts in Hawaii category, Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, Montage Kapalua Bay, Wailea Beach Villas, Hotel Wailea Maui, and Travaasa Hana secured the stop five spots.
