WAIPAHU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii's Republicans rallied at their annual convention on Saturday.

This year, members gathered in Waipahu at the Filipino Community Center.

The Hawaii Republican Party allocated delegates to the Republica National Convention based on the results of its March 2016 Presidential Caucus, which Donald Trump won.

Today's State Convention had no effect on those delegate allocations.

Party officials, say Hawaii's GOP numbers are on the rise.

"People are hearing the message that people are sick and tired of the status quo, they want to do something about it, they want change to happen they want to be effective in having change in Hawaii," Hawaii Republican Party Executive Director Marcia Tagavilla said.

Party officials say membership has grown from 10,000 to 15,000 during the past year, mostly due to the energy created by the upcoming presidential election.
