Local Connection: Charity Walk
Giving back to the community can be both rewarding and fun, especially when it involves food and entertainment.
Throughout the month of May, the Hawai'i Lodging & Tourism Association and Hawaii's visitor industry has been hosting the 38th annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk.
We thank those who participated in walks on Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Kauai and the Big Island. For those on Oahu, join us this Saturday at 7 am at Ala Moana Beach Park for our final walk and enjoy entertainment and checkpoints along the route.
This is the biggest time of the year for Hawaii's hotels and tourism-related business to come together as one with the mission of building a healthier Hawaii.
Last year, the Charity Walk raised $1.8 million dollars for nearly 300 local charities across the state and over $28 million dollars since 1978.
Whether you participate in the Charity Walk or simply send in a donation, funds raised on each island stay on that island to support local nonprofit organizations.
Consider supporting the Charity Walk, and help continue a tradition of giving.
