KAKAAKO, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The HCDA is proposing a $45 million redesign of the 53 acres it owns next to Kewalo Basin over the next 20 years.
One major challenge would be leveling the hills, which are made of landfill material, along the waterfront to provide an ocean view from Ala Moana Boulevard.
Features highlighted in the proposal include an oceanfront amphitheater, a beer garden and sand volleyball courts.
The proposal would also extend the beachfront promenade, add snack bars and surfboard storage areas.
Comments from the public on the proposal will be accepted here until June 22.
