HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Theatre Center is pleased to present Peter Apo's Mother's Day Kanikapila on Sunday, May 8 at 4 p.m.
This performance is a rare opportunity for audiences to see Peter Apo perform alongside some of Hawaii's best Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning performers in a celebration of Mother's Day through Hawaiian music and hula.
The evening will be filled with music from Jerry Santos, Kuuipo Kumukahi, Del Beazley, Sistah Robi Kahakalau, Jeff Rasmussen and the Peter Apo Band, and will feature the ladies of Halau Na Wahine O Ka Hula Mai Ka Puuwai. Peter Apo, who is producing the show, has called on these special performers, each of whom had an important influence on his life as a musician, songwriter and record producer.
Organized by Kumu Hula Candy Pollack, more than 50 hula dancers from Halau Na Wahine O Ka Hula Mai Ka Puuwai (the women who dance from the heart) will grace the stage. These ladies, comprised of mostly grandmothers, bring a special maturity and devotion to their hula.
Pre-sale tickets are $32 per person or $37 per person day on the day of the event.
Tickets are on sale now at the Hawaii Theatre Box Office by calling 808-528-0506 during business hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. , or anytime online at www.hawaiitheatre.com.
