Kapiolani Medical Center receives $1M donation from Nan. Inc

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kapiolani Medical Center for women and children got a huge donation from Nan Inc. on Friday.

The construction company presented a $1 million check to help pay for the hosptial's expansion.

The donation will be used to fund building a new auditorium and a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Nan Inc.'s founder, Nan Chul Shin says the hospital holds a special meaning to many employees including himself.

"My three daughters are born here, this is where I learned to train to raise kids, it has a lot of meaning to our family, this is where my kids start their life from this hospital," Shin said.

The 1,600-square-foot auditorium will be a state-of-the-art meeting and education space and a centerpiece of the new building's conference center.

In recognition of the company's generosity, the auditorium and  the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Building will be named the Nan, Inc. Auditorium.
