WAIMEA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - A faculty member at the Hawaii Preparatory Academy on the Big Island has been let go for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student, the school announced Tuesday.

The school said it dismissed Arati Clarry after learning about the allegations during spring break.

In a statement, the school's president described the incident as deeply troubling for the community and said the state was notified in addition to the school's on-campus investigation.

On the school's website, Clarry is listed as the director of alumni and student programs.
