HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Kailua architect and already a registered sex offender, was arrested Wednesday morning at Honolulu Airport on charges he distributed child pornography.

Mark Robinson Heyd, 60, was arrested by FBI agents before he went through security. He was due to fly to Las Vegas.

"He's accused of distributing child pornography on the internet to an individual in Cincinnati, Ohio," says Special Agent Tom Simon, That individual was a 15-year old boy.  Court documents show the boy's mother called police after realizing Heyd was having inappropriate conversations with the Kailua man.  The mother turned over the boy's phone and family computer.   The documents say the FBI found images of young children allegedly sent from Heyd.

"Eventually there's going to be a judge in Cincinnati who will decide how much of his criminal past will be admissible in court."  In 2002, he was convicted in the kidnapping and sex assault of a minor on his Kaneohe Little League baseball team.

A hearing Monday will determine if he will be allowed to travel by himself to Ohio to face the charges or if he will be taken by United States Deputy Marshals.

If convicted, he faces of minimum of five years in federal prison and a maximum of twenty years.
