Police searching for missing work furlough inmate

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Work furlough program inmate Albert Kalakau failed to return from a furlough pass to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center.
Kalakau left this morning on a job-seeking pass and was scheduled to return this afternoon. State Sheriffs and Honolulu Police were notified.
Kalakau was serving time for Attempted Theft 2 and Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle. Escape 2 is expected to be added to his charges. His next parole hearing is scheduled for March 2016.
51-year old Kalakau is classified as community custody which is the lowest custody level. He is 5'2" and weighs 138 lbs. He has brown hair and eyes.
