KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Blood Bank of Hawaii has canceled three blood drive events in Kona next month due to the dengue fever outbreak.
The events were supposed to take place on March 9, 10 and 11, but the health department advised the blood bank to avoid donors from the 96740 zip code because the area is considered a high risk zone for dengue.
The Blood Bank will instead hold events those days in the parking lot of its Dillingham location on Oahu with the goal of collecting 250 pints each day.
