KAPOLEI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The hard work of a Kapolei based company paid off when Virgin Galactic unveiled their brand new spaceship in the Mojave Desert on Friday, February 19.
Straube's Aircraft Services on Oahu won a bid to paint the massive spaceship after meeting Virgin Galactic representatives at an aircraft trade show in 2013.
The company's Business Development Director, Jerimiah Straube says it was a huge job that they could not pass up.
"It's an unbelievable feeling, its part of history, its a testament to the hard work and quality that my parents and my uncle have grown our company to become," Straube said. "To be invited to just to bid on a project like this is very touching."
It took a 7-member crew to complete the entire paint job in less than two weeks.
The spaceship is the first commercial aircraft designed to take civilians to space.
