HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Former Kahuku High School and University of Hawaii soccer star Natasha Kai has signed a contract with the NWSL's Sky Blue FC, the team said in a release on Thursday.
Kai, 32, previously played for the side back in 2009, when the team won the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) championship.
"We are beyond excited to bring in a player of Tasha's quality and proven track record. She is going to give us so many options on the field," said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. "Tasha is someone who comes with a huge personality that is very attractive to us and really connects with the fans. She has a renewed enthusiasm and a renewed energy to come back and prove again what a quality player she is."
After her local soccer career, Kai notched 24 goals and 13 assists in 67 matches with the U.S. Women's National Team.
Though she no longer plays for the U.S., Kai joins a club that features current USWNT member Christie Rampone, who tweeted "She's back!! Very excited to play with my very talented, friend @NatashaKai again!!"
