HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Last week BYU Hawaii Senior, Scott Friel, made program history. Becoming the first Seasider every to record a triple double.
"I knew it was kind of happening but it's not like I was going out there with the intentions of getting a triple double but kinda toward the end I figured I was there for rebounds and points and then a couple of the coaches told me I needed a couple more assists so toward the end I was trying to facilitate and pass a little more but just kind of happened" said Friel.
In the 37 years that triple doubles have existed as an official stat at BYU Hawaii, no one has been able to break into double digits in three statistical categories...at least not until Friel came along, which is surprising, especially to him.
"It's a hard thing for me to kind of imagine because I know it's a hard thing to do but I would've thought some one else would've done it by now. So I don't want to say that I have the capability to do it again but when i see that and see that I'm the only one I kind of just want to do that again."
