HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Over 200 middle and high school students from across the state entered in the fourth annual Aloha Harvest's Compassion in Arts competition and were challenged to create works of art that relayed a message of empathy for the needy, hungry and homeless.

The theme of this year's event was held in honor of World Food Day, October 16.

Of the 200 entries, 29 finalists were recognized and chosen to have their artwork displayed at the Honolulu Museum of Art. The entries will be on display through November 11, 2015.

Aloha Harvest is a non-profit organization and Hawaii's only food rescue program that supplies social services with the resources necessary to feed the state's hungry and homeless.

The competition provides the younger generations with a platform to learn and see the impacts compassion has on our communities.
