HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The University of Hawaii (UH) Rainbow Warrior football team opens the 2015 season Thursday, Sept. 3 against Colorado. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.

UH Athletics and Aloha Stadium are expecting delays on the roadways due to the week day game colliding with the late afternoon "pau hana" traffic. Ongoing construction in the surrounding area near the stadium will also affect the commute for fans.

Aloha Stadium is communicating with the State Department of Transportation as well as Honolulu Area Rapid Transit (HART) in order to coordinate the construction schedules and help minimize the impact for fans attending the game.

"We are reaching out and coordinating our efforts to help inform everyone ahead of time about the potential traffic delays," Stadium Manager Scott Chan said. "Although we are not able to completely eliminate the traffic, we are looking to minimize the impact on those who are planning to attend. Hopefully many will plan their arrival based on the information we are disseminating."

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets before arriving at the game, in order to avoid long lines at the Aloha Stadium Box Office.

"We encourage those who have not purchased their game tickets to do so online at before arriving at the game," UH Athletics Director David Matlin said. "We are working with Aloha Stadium to inform our fans about the potential delays as well as give them every opportunity to arrive early."
