A 29-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with an alleged sexual assault at a Kaka'ako homeless encampment.
Authorities say M.J. Marew as taken into custody at Kamamalu Playground in Nu'uanu at around 2:20 p.m. He was booked on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of terroristic threatening.
Police believe Marew assaulted a 21-year-old woman at the homeless encampment at around 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. When two of the woman's family members attempted to intervene, authorities say Marew threatened them with a dangerous instrument.
Marew remains in police custody, pending an investigation.
