KAIMUKI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The contractor hired to clean up a Kaimuki property completed the job this afternoon after hauling away 21.5 tons of waste and debris.

Pacific Junk Removal began the work on July 21 and spent six days collecting and disposing the waste from the home at 1115 2nd Avenue. In the end, the company had taken 18 truckloads of waste to the city's H-Power facility and the Waimanalo Gulch Landfill.

To prevent illegal entry into the home, the contractor boarded up broken windows and secured the doors. The Department of Planning and Permitting will meet this week with city attorneys to discuss the next steps to recover the cost of the cleanup.
