HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Missing Child Center Hawaii and Honolulu Police Department are still working together in hopes of closing the case of a Kailua girl who was kidnapped by her biological mother exactly 25 years ago.
Therese Vanderheiden was taken on June 22, 1990. Her father and stepmother looked for her all these years, but both died recently.
"I don't know if she knows her dad was looking for her all this time, but I do know the mom hid her very well, so she must have known that there was something different what they were going through," said Charlene Takeno of Missing Child Center Hawaii.
The Missing Child Center Hawaii released a new, computerized picture of what she would look like now, at 30 years old. Computer images of Vanderheiden have been updated throughout the years, and every time a new image is released, there are reported sightings on the East Coast.
Anyone with information is asked to call Honolulu police.
