LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Surfer Bethany Hamilton now has a new role: mom.

The Kauai native and her husband Adam Dirks welcomed their son Tobias to the world on June 1.

She posted the news on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on Monday, adding that Tobias was 7.9 pounds and 21 inches long. He was named after his great-grandfather, meaning "the goodness of God."

Hamilton, 25, was just 13 when a tiger shark bit off her left arm. Since then, she not only continued to surf professionally, but she also got married in 2013 and competed in CBS' "The Amazing Race" in 2014.
