Big Island brush fire scorches 200 acres in Punaluu
PUNALUU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island firefighters are continuing to monitor hot spots after a brush fire burned approximately 200 acres in Punaluu.
The fire started burning around noon Monday along Highway 11. Throughout the day, firefighters used helicopters to drop water over the area within Ninole Loop and Hilea Road.
The fire has been contained, but crews remained on scene overnight to monitor flare-ups.
No major damages or injuries were reported.
