DUI charges filed against Jon Riki Karamatsu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Attorney General Doug Chin on Thursday announced that his office filed charges against Jon Riki Karamatsu for one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant and one count of Refusal to Submit to Testing.

Karamatsu was arrested on April 4, 2015. Arraignment and plea is set for May 1, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in Honolulu District Court.

Last week Karamatsu announced his resignation as Deputy Prosecutor.

In 2007, when Karamatsu was Vice Speaker of the State House, he was convicted after crashing his vehicle into a concrete median. In court, he pleaded no contest and had his driver's license revoked for six months.
