HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaiian Word of the Day is Hokule'a. Literally meaning "Star of Gladness," Hokule'a is the name of the Polynesian Voyaging Society's inaugural voyaging canoe which made its first journey to Tahiti navigating by solely by stars in 1976. This year, nearing its 40th anniversary, the Hokule'a continues on its voyage to circumnavigate the globe by visiting ports in Australia, Indonesia, Madagascar, Mozambique and South Africa. The Hawaiian word of the Day is Hokule'a.
