KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Authorities are investigating a deadly vehicle fire that happened early Wednesday, forcing police to shut down all Kaneohe-bound lanes of the H-3 freeway for several hours.

The Honolulu Police Department said at around 4 a.m., a pickup truck was traveling in the Kaneohe-bound direction of the H-3 when it collided into a median barrier and erupted in flames. Police and firefighters arrived on scene shortly thereafter, and firefighters extinguished the flames about 45 minutes later.

The victim's body, still in the truck, was burned beyond recognition, police said. An autopsy will determine the official cause of death, but at this time, police have ruled out foul play.

It is unknown if speed and alcohol are factors.
