Blizzard Warning expires for Big Island summits

MAUNA LOA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has canceled a Blizzard Warning for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

A high wind warning is now in effect until 6 p.m. this evening.

  • Winds...southwest 40 to 60 mph with localized gusts over 70 mph.
  • Timing...through 6 pm this evening.
  • Impacts...winds this strong can result in property damage and can make travel to the summits extremely dangerous.
