Police investigate large fight in Punchbowl

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have opened an attempted murder investigation after a large fight happened late Monday night in the Punchbowl area, injuring several people. At least one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.The incident happened around 11:40 p.m. on Auwaiolimu Street. Witnesses said the fight involved Micronesians and Samoans who live in the area and that bats, glass bottles, pipes, sticks and a dart were used.

According to the Emergency Medical Services, a 22-year-old man was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition while three people -- a 25-year-old female, 21-year-old male and 17-year-old male -- were transported in serious condition. Paramedics said they suffered injuries from various weapons.

The fight was captured on a dash camera from a driver who unknowingly pulled up to the fight just as it started. The man who provided the video to Hawaii News Now says he will also share it with police.

Police are still investigating what led up to the fight. They have arrested one person, Batrick Oichiro, in connection with the brawl.
