HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kealoha says officers never want to use deadly force, but in this case, the officers determined it was necessary. The department says the driver in the stolen Honda Accord rammed an officers car and then tried to run over several cops.

The 51-year old driver was shot multiple times in the head and died at the scene. He had been arrested 51 times and has 22 convictions, mostly for property crimes but there is a resisting arrest conviction.

Police have had numerous complaints about the house on Komo Mai. Neighbors say it was a drug house with people coming and going at all hours of the night.

All three officers involved are on administrative leave, standard procedure. Two officers fired their weapons but the third cop's gun jammed.
