HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Daniel Dae Kim, star of the CBS series "Hawaii Five-0," is endorsing Gov. Neil Abercrombie in his re-election campaign, noting his longtime support of the arts as a key to Hawaii's tourism industry.
"Governor Abercrombie's support of 'Hawaii Five-0' has been integral to the show's production, and has helped enable it to be seen in more than 200 countries around the world," Kim said in a statement. "I am grateful for his support of our local film and television industry."
In response to Kim's endorsement announcement, Abercrombie said he is honored, adding that Hawaii's tourism is critical to continuing a positive momentum of the state's economy.
"Showcasing the beauty of our Aloha State in top-rated television shows and award-winning films speaks volumes about Hawaii as a world-class film location," Abercrombie said.
Abercrombie faces state Sen. David Ige in the Democratic primary election held Aug. 9.
