Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration have released an audio recording that features a Hawaiian Airlines pilot talking to air traffic controllers after realizing a teen had stowed away on a flight from San Jose to Maui.

The pilot, who is not believed to have been the same individual who flew the plane from California to Kahului with 15-year-old Yahya Abdi in the wheel well, reportedly entered the cockpit after the plane had landed on Maui.

"We have a little gate delay here," the pilot can be heard saying on the audio recording. "A guy seems to have stowed away in the landing gear from San Jose to Maui, so we got security looking for evidence of the guy being there for more than five minutes. We'll let you know when we're ready to push."

Abdi survived the 5.5 hour flight despite low oxygen levels and freezing temperatures.
